Cuba – An Unlikely Model for Organic Farming

The U.S. trade embargo of Cuba, plus the collapse of the Soviet market, meant that the country found it virtually impossible to import the chemicals and machinery necessary to practice modern, intensive agriculture. Instead, it has turned to farming much of its land organically – with results that overturn the myths about the ‘inefficiency’ of organic farming.

The President’s Cancer Panel released an extensive 200-page report today that in no uncertain terms strongly endorses eating organically raised food. It is very encouraging to see a mainstream report come forward and validate and promote what we all have known been working on for years. This is a very good sign!
