Melody Meyer

Senior Director of Purchasing

I have been involved in the organic food industry for over thirty years. It has been my lifelong goal to promote the growth of organic trade to benefit consumers, growers and the environment. My introduction to the organic industry began when I was just a teenager working in a local food co-op in Iowa. After moving to California and working for the largest worker-owned natural foods store in Santa Cruz, I saw how organic commerce was invigorating the local community. In 1996, I started Source Organic, an organic brokerage business successfully uniting organic growers with the burgeoning retail sector. In 2001, Albert’s Organics purchased Source Organic and I became their National Director of Procurement for Fresh Produce. I have been appointed Industry Advocacy Representative for Albert’s Organics and United Natural Foods, Inc. As a twelve-year member of the Organic Trade Association, I actively participate in grass roots policy work and in the Farm Bill Forum, often working to influence government policy during Congressional Hill visits.
